Its the time of year when Leanne starts begging for willling helpers to wait tables at the over 65’s Xmas lunch on Friday 1st December! It is a free community lunch so all work is done on a voluntary basis.
The lunch takes place at The Queens Hall in Cuckfield and we need help from approx 12-2:30pm (or later if you are able to help clear up!)
The event needs approximately 15 to 20 people to cover all the bases and as waiter/waitress you will need to bring a tray big enough to hold 2 dinner plates!
Thank you in advance!
Contact Leanne via the Independent State or through Facebook if you prefer!
As traditional the Independent State of Cuckfield’s new Mayor for the forthcoming year attended Holy Trinity Church today Oct 22nd accompanied by a representative contingent.
God Save The Mayor and The Independent State of Cuckfield
With the Mayor’s election just days away election fever is sweeping the Independent State of Cuckfield. The latest polls are just in and we can get a clearer picture of what the voters in Cuckfield are thinking.
It shows that Leanne Knapman and Evelyn Stenning are almost too close to call but at the same time, some of the other candidates are starting to make up ground and could pose a threat come election night. To make sure your vote counts get along to the Rose & Crown this Friday evening from 8pm. Every penny in the candidates’ buckets counts as a vote.
- (Disclaimer: this poll was carried out very quickly and may or may not reflect current opinion in Cuckfield.)

We are looking for marshals to help us at the Mayor’s Procession this year on Saturday 21st October. Can you spare a couple of hours in the afternoon to join in the fun?
And we are looking for a lovely volunteer to make some rosettes for the Independent State for the winning floats in this year’s Mayor’s Procession! We need 4 in total, and they need to be dinner plate sized so they stand out on the floats. Would anyone out there be able to help? We can provide more detail.
Leave us a message on facebook or by email and we will be in touch.
The Mayor’s Procession is on Sat October 21st.
All Cuckfield organisations can join in & ALL receive a donation!
